A major effort to rationalise the British Government (HMG)’s software estate has inched closer to fruition with a £215 million contract notice.

The “Matrix Programme” aims to consolidate the ERP systems of 29 government departments and agencies into a single cloud SaaS.

If successful, it will bring together 15 instances of nine different software solutions (some on-premises, some on-cloud) across nine primary departments and swap 10 service providers “varying in maturity, service provision and position” for a single SaaS platform and Systems Integrator.
