A CISO is wanted to help with nationally important R&R. Unfortunately for security professionals with an eye on more rest and recreation, it's not that kind of double r, rather the double "ah!" of a £12 billion Restoration & Renewal of the Houses of Parliament that needs securing, an intriguing job vacancy posted today reveals.
The Chief Information and Security Officer is needed to head up cybersecurity strategy for what has been described as the "biggest and most complex renovation of a heritage building ever undertaken in the UK" -- a £12 billion overhaul of the Houses of Parliament's decrepit rabbit warren, which comprise a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a Grade 1 listed building and "the world’s finest example of early Gothic Revival architecture."
Advertised today (May 25) the job details say the incoming CISO will be "responsible for setting the cyber security strategy; and the security elements of digital strategy, IT architecture, IT policies and standards, technology assurance and IT professionalism" for the R&R programme. It adds that the CISO will "also be responsible to advising the board and how best to exploit technology to deliver the organisation’s strategic objectives and provide strong strategic leadership of the organisation’s IT community and its investment in technology."
Neophytes aren't wanted: The Houses of Parliament Restoration & Renewal team want an "experienced senior leader with skills gained in large scale environments of real complexity.
As the job spec has it: "You will be experienced in the development and leadership of teams aligned to world class technology services, and be an engaging and inspiring leader. You will be attracted to the authority, the House of Parliament and its purpose to the country. Expert in stakeholder engagement and partnering in a large scale and complex organisational structure, your track record will be to have delivered exceptional results by working with others, and to have developed your team for enduring success."
